Read Daniel's Personal Testimony-

After my first major Heart Attack, I had a 100% blockage in my left anterior descending artery at the age of 34 (the one they call the widow maker)and barely survived, I became very reckless, stopped caring about life, indulged in everything I could, I was on a race towards death, I became the most selfish I have ever been, perhaps more than any man could be. I fell into the company of criminals and the party scene, my life spun out of control. Being spiritual all my life, I reached out to my church, of which I was a team leader, asking for help, but I had gone to far, even they had to shun me, left with nothing left- no friends, no job, distant from my family- I made several attempts at suicide, which of course failed. It was clear the lord would not let me die and that it was my will and my thinking that had driven me down this path. I made decisions that put my family in danger as well as myself, I knew I needed a new start, a new beginning but my bad decisions had put me into an unforgiving system that makes very little room for mercy, the barriers were in place and I had little hope that they would ever be removed, I was indeed stuck homeless forever. In that moment, I prayed, I offered my complete surrender and made an oath to God that I would serve him completely if he would just protect my children and keep them safe. After that, I put one foot in front of the other trusting in him as my faith grew stronger and the Holy Spirit could more fully dwell within me. This started a journey across the country into 5 states but through many others. I took jobs wherever I went but kept very little for myself because it was put on my heart to be the best example of brotherly love and non-attachment that is humanly possible. Being inspired by the new testament and the life of Jesus, more books, as if magically flying off the shelves, fell into my lap, these books talked about early Christianity, the life of the saints, the martyrs. Those men who remained humble and poor, saw themselves as servants, and sacrificed their lives by loving God and loving others. To my surprise, their early lives were much like mine, full of indulgence, sin and excess, but as with me, a transformation happened, an intense feeling, a calling towards a higher purpose. I heard that call and have and am doing everything I humanly can to aspire to it.  This path took me to Portland, where a series of events made it clear that it was God that called me hear and the message he wants me to make clear is that there will be justice for the Poor! -

Thank you for being part of this journey with me! ~Daniel J. Hoffman~
